Description: A mural of the Brooklyn Bridge, floral-patterned tablecloths, an old-fashioned dark-wood bar, and attentive, friendly service contribute to the cozy, relaxed atmosphere of the Brooklyn Cafe. Founded by two Yankee transplants, the friendly Italian eatery offers “New York without the attitude” and an innovative menu with fresh takes on pasta, seafood, chicken, and veal. Popular dishes include fried calamari with fra diavolo sauce; roast chicken with Italian sausage, roasted potatoes, black olives, and pepperocini; and veal sorrentino with roasted bell peppers, salami, and provolone cheese in a marsala wine sauce. The restaurant features an extensive beer and wine list and daily dessert specials. Brooklyn Cafe serves lunch for special events only. Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. every night. The cafe doesn’t take reservations, but if you call ahead and come at the time recommended, you’ll step to the head of the line for a table.
