Description: On 127 acres along the banks of the Chattahoochee River, the Chattahoochee Nature Center is an environmental sanctuary with miles of freshwater ponds, wooded uplands, and river marshes. The center offers a variety of classes and activities for children and adults. During weekly canoe floats in the summer, families can learn basic boating skills while viewing native plants and wildlife. Special Sunday classes during the summer touch on everything from reptiles to how Native Americans used the marsh. You’ll learn even more on weekend naturalist-guided walks through woodland or river marsh habitats. Chattahoochee Nature Center stays open year-round. Enjoy the gardens, pond studies, and nature trails on a nice day any time of year; indoor exhibits entertain and edify when it’s too hot or cold to be outdoors. Shopaholics will surely find something enticing at the Nature Store. Chattahoochee Nature Center is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. Adults pay a $8 admission fee; the cost is $5 for kids 3 to 12 and $6 for seniors.
