Description: Dunwoody Nature Center, in Dunwoody Park, was founded to develop, improve, and preserve Dunwoody Park as a wildlife habitat and outdoor learning center. The park includes hardwood and pine forests, a meadowland, a creek, and wetlands. A 1.3-mile discovery path runs through the grounds. The nature center is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dunwoody Park is open seven days a week, from sunup to sundown. Admission to both the center and the park is free. The center offers outdoor discovery classes in weeklong sessions for kids ages 4 to 10. Registration is required. There are also field trips for grades kindergarten through eight. Spring Break Camp is held when the schools are out in the spring. Holiday Earth Camp, held in December, teaches campers about worldwide holiday celebrations and allows them to observe nature in winter. The center also schedules family events for every second Saturday. Fun activities include concerts in the park and a Butterfly Festival. Families can join the center for $45; individuals can join for $35. Members enjoy discounted rates on classes and programs.
