Description: Fernbank has many exhibits to fascinate both adults and children. Specifically for the small fry, Fernbank provides two bright, colorful environments in which kids can develop their natural curiosity. The Fantasy Forest, for kids 3 to 5, and the Coca-Cola Georgia Adventure, for the 6-to-10 set, teach youngsters about their natural environment through carefully designed quick experiments. Fantasy Forest gives children a chance to try on a bee glove and pick up “pollen balls” to “pollinate” large, brightly colored flowers. Georgia Adventure includes a colorful shrimp boat and simulations of the Chattahoochee River and the Okefenokee Swamp, where children can play and pretend to fish. Admittance to both is included in a museum ticket. (Sometimes during the school year, the Forest and the Adventure exhibits are reserved for class trips, so it’s best to call ahead to make sure they’re open to the public.) Also at the museum is the 315-seat, five-story IMAX theater, which brings thrilling adventure and science films right in your face.
