Description: Before or after a nice dinner at one of the classier River Street restaurants, you may not be in the mood to nightcap it at one of the street’s sing-along suds pubs. This is a nice alternative—a dressier place for a drink. The decor is upscale and subtle, the drinks are fine, and there’s usually an inoffensive and unobtrusive musical lounge act. The whole thing would fall into the “very nice but forgettable” category if not for the view (hence the name). This bar is inside the Hyatt Regency Savannah and has glass walls overlooking the Savannah River (literally—this portion of the hotel overhangs River Street). If you are lucky (or determined enough to stay put for a while), you’ll get to see one of the giant container ships headed to or from the port upriver. Granted, you can see them from the street, too, but from the Vu’s vantage point, you’re more on eye level with the oceangoing giants. Hours are Mon through Thurs, 2 p.m. to midnight; Fri and Sat, 2 p.m. to 2 a.m.; Sun, noon to midnight.
