Description: Operating out of offices on Sallie Mood Drive, the department’s Sports Division provides league play for youngsters in a variety of sports. These include basketball (January through March for boys and girls ages 8 through 14), soccer (March through May for boys and girls ages 6 through 19), baseball (March through July for boys ages 6 through 14), fast-pitch softball (March through July for girls ages 6 through 18), and football (September through November for boys ages 5 through 12). The division also sponsors swimming and weight-lifting complexes near Lake Mayer and holds a cheerleading competition for youngsters at Memorial Stadium in December and fast-pitch softball clinics in the fall. Entry fees vary per team for participation in basketball and $150 per team for participation in soccer, baseball, softball, and football. Call for the most current information.
