Description: Food and art come together in this trendy restaurant where Savannahians sneak for lively lunches in the middle of the workday. (They’re all thinking, “Don’t tell the tourists.”) Once occupied by an auto garage, there’s no boredom here while waiting for the food to arrive. There’s artwork on display throughout the entire gallery and tables interspersed between the goods. It’s like dining in a glorified flea market. Soho South (which you will also hear called Soho Savannah, even though that isn’t the official name) serves a sophisticated but affordable lunch. Your table might be from a patio suite or a circa-1950s dinette set. The quiche is the best in Savannah and sells out early at lunch. Salads, soups, Portobello mushroom burgers—we’ve never been disappointed here. Save room for the decadent desserts, which include a classic crème brûlèe, homemade banana pudding, Georgia pecan pie, and a rustic apple galette that’s hard to resist. The dinner menu is more complex and expensive (salmon Wellington, pepper-crusted filet mignon), but it retains a grilled salmon BLT and a char-grilled cheddar burger. Brunch is served on Sun. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
