Telephone: (912) 236-1333
Address: 1 Resort Dr.

Description: Held during the third week in April, the Legends of Golf brings many of the sport’s all-time greats to Savannah and the par 72 Club at Savannah Harbor course—players such as Arnold Palmer, Lee Trevino, and Chi Chi Rodriguez. Moved from north Florida to Savannah in 2003, the Legends is the second-oldest tournament on the Senior PGA tour—the event debuted in 1978—and boasted a total purse of $3 million in its first year here. Although legendary players are the main attraction of the tourney, the course is also a crowd-pleaser. Situated as it is on Hutchinson Island across the Savannah River from the city’s Historic District, the Club at Savannah Harbor offers spectacular views of the town. The 18 holes, designed by Sam Snead and Robert Cupp and bearing names such as the Briar Patch and Battery Point, also have a charm of their own derived from their marshy and woodsy environment. The event features golfers competing in three divisions—the Demaret Division for players age 70 and older, the Raphael Division for those ages 50 to 69, and the Legends, which is the main competition. Check the website for ticket and official scheduling information. Parking is free in lots at the nearby Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.
