Category: Restaurants
Telephone: (773) 868-0002
Address: 2300 N. Lincoln Park West

Description: This serene, almost spa-like space, filled with Macassar ebony columns, plush couches, and white leather chairs quickly caught the attention of food lovers when it opened in 2008. But there’s been an equally noteworthy change recently: the exit of chef Laurent Gras, whose first name was part of the inspiration for the restaurant’s moniker (along with a reference to the seafood-heavy menu). But not to worry. The Lincoln Park destination still boasts a coveted three stars awarded in Chicago’s first Michelin Guide, backing by James Beard Award–winning mega-restaurateur Rich Melman of Lettuce Entertain You (Outstanding Restaurateur, 2011), and talented chef Francis Brennan in charge. Expect signature items, such as the made-in-house breads, pristine sashimi platter, and fluffy soufflés. Tip: If you’re not willing to commit to an entire meal (and its lofty price tag), snag a spot in the small lounge for creative cocktails and inventive small plates. Open for dinner Wed through Mon; closed Tues.
