Description: Sail Baltimore is a nonprofit, community service organization that works as a great resource for boating and sailing activities in the area. It was founded as the Mayor’s Official Committee on Visiting Ships to host Baltimore’s first tall ship gathering in the summer of 1976 and is responsible for coordinating Baltimore’s waterfront activities. The organization has been responsible for brining in about two dozen visiting ships (tall ships, military vessels, and education and environmental ships). They have a calendar of ship visits so you can see if and when a particular ship is due to arrive and depart. Sail Baltimore also supports other maritime events, such as the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race, the Fell’s Point Yacht Club Lighted Boat Parade, the Blessing of Baltimore’s Work Boats, and OpSail Baltimore.
