Description: If you prefer contemporary and chic in your bed-and-breakfast, then book your reservation at the Inn at 2920. Even the Web site is a pleasure to view. This five-unit home is a Canton row house and is decorated with works by local artists. Fans and open windows cool the rooms, although there is central air for those soggy Baltimore summer days. The usual amenities are available, including wireless Internet and rain showers, though phones are not available. Queen-size bed is in four of the rooms, though the “Bordello” room (the upstairs was a brothel for some time) has a king-size bed. Owners Warren Munroe and David Rohrbaugh are the dedicated hosts, and they promise “each and every guest a complete bed-and-breakfast experience with superior accommodations and amenities, friendly service, and lasting memories.”

Description: When you’re a wine geek and even if you’re a wine snob, you’ll find company at the Chesapeake Wine Company. Friday night is live music. Tuesday is tasting time ($25 a person, no lectures, just good company and some knowledge). Wednesday is happy hour. Saturday is pairings or some other wine event. This is part of the Can Company complex, so if you’re with the wine and your companion isn’t, no problem. The hours are Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Description: This Canton marina offers slips for a night or a year. It’s located near the Promenade and you can easily reach the Inner Harbor or Fell’s Point via water taxi. Or just stay in the area; it’s an easy stroll to the restaurants of Canton. The daily docking rate is $2.25 per foot plus $10 per night per line for 30 amp electric or $15 per night for 50 or twin 30 amp electric.

4. Helen’S Garden Restaurant

Description: Located in Canton Square, Helen’s Garden is a cozy, intimate cafe with a great wine list and an equally wonderful menu. This is the kind of place where you can either dress casual and get away cheap with a bottle of vino for less than $20 or you can show up in black-tie attire and have an elegant meal. Grilled fish entrees, particularly the tuna, are superb, and the weekend brunch menu is well loved by locals. Reservations are recommended. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 5 to 9:30 p.m. (open until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday). Sunday brunch is offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner is served from 5 to 9 p.m. Valet parking is available Thursday through Sunday night at Linwood Avenue, on the west side of O’Donnell Square across the street from the fire hall.

5. Sip & Bite Restaurant

Description: Web site? You’re kidding, right? This is a 24-hour diner where you can get a crab cake, Gyros, seafood, and just about anything else you’d want at 3 in the morning. No reservations accepted, no alcohol is served, and no credit cards are accepted. Just lots of atmosphere and some fairly good diner food. Closed Christmas day.
