Description: Ladew Topiary Gardens, created by Harvey S. Ladew (1887-1976), a self-taught gardener, is known around the world for its topiary and flower gardens. He made 15 thematic “garden rooms” that are devoted to a single color, plant, or theme. Every season features different blooms from the tulips, daffodils, candytuft, andromedia, Virginia bluebells, early azaleas, and crab apples in April to roses, asters, Mexican sage, Japanese anemone, and annuals in September. Visit the gardens, walk the nature walk, tour the manor house, and enjoy a lot of the outdoors less than an hour from Baltimore. Concerts and special events are presented regularly.
