Description: Amalfi always had the food and now it’s got the view to go with it, having moved into the old MBNA compound just feet from the waterfront. The house specialties include paella, tapas, and seafood dishes, especially oysters, and on any given night there might be a dozen or more entrees to select from in addition to the tapas, salads, soups, and appetizers like Moroccan meatballs and manicotti. From the steamed mussels to the pan-seared Atlantic salmon to the braised shank of lamb, the grilled strip steak to the scallops St. Jacques, everything is uniformly good. The wine list draws praise for its quality and affordability, too. The bread that comes out first goes quickly, and the desserts that cap the meal—the crème brûlée is a favorite—have gained themselves quite a following. All told, a very fine dining experience. Reservations are a good idea.
