Description: Since opening in 2008, Sully’s has become the hot spot for Johnson County’s elite who like their steaks juicy, their martinis bold, and their jazz smoking. Speaking of smoking, cigars are allowed on the patio. We’ll skip the stogies, thank you, and opt for the house-made potato chips dripping with bleu cheese, or what the restaurant calls the “Best Burger in Town.” They’re just two of the temping appetizers on the $5 Swinging at Sully’s menu on Thurs and Sun nights. But the menu is pretty compelling any day of the week. The Business Lunch is a bargain for $18 with a choice of salad or soup, entrée (including a 6 oz. filet mignon), and the renowned horseradish mashed potatoes. Naturally, dinners focus on a selection of steaks and chops along with seafood, including live Maine lobsters. The bar serves an impressive list of high-end cognacs, single malt scotches, and three-ounce pours of ports. Then there’s the Knockout, Sullivan’s lethal martini made with orange vodka. It’s a pretty sweet way to end a weekend while listening to jazz from some of Kansas City’s top performers like Mark Lowrey. Thank goodness the nice folks at Sully’s keep the doors open late on Sun.
