Description: Playmakers Repertory Company is the professional theater company associated with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s Department of Dramatic Art. The company, which is more than 90 years old, has won national recognition for being a top-notch regional theater with lavish productions of classics and modern works. Shakespeare, Oscar Wilde, Arthur Miller, and Susan Lori-Parks have all been produced in the Mainstage series in recent seasons. With its PRC2 series, the company offers more cutting-edge fare in a more relaxed setting that encourages post-show discussions. Mainstage shows take place in the 500-seat, thrust-stage Paul Green Theater, which manages to feel more intimate than its size should allow. PRC2 presentations take place in the smaller Kenan Theater, which seats 265. Both are housed in the Center for Dramatic Art, alongside rehearsal space and classrooms. As with anything on the UNC campus, give yourself plenty of time to find parking. The Cobb Parking Deck behind the Center for Dramatic Art, the visitors lot on N.C. 54, and the School of Government parking deck are nearby options.
