Description: Located on the quiet west side of Lake Norman about 35 minutes north of Uptown, Verdict Ridge was intended to be a private club, but has settled into the role of semi-private and will likely remain that way for several years. Former Charlotte mayor Eddie Knox created Verdict Ridge, and the name is a nod to his profession as a lawyer. Knox is an avid golfer and designed much of the course himself. Most golfers judge it to be enjoyable and scenic, but also a bit challenging. One prominent feature is a series of wetlands that traverse the course. There are several times when you must carry a shot over the wetlands or else. The hills at Verdict Ridge are not just “rolling.” A few are downright steep. The 18th hole is a tough, downhill par-5 that crosses a couple of creeks, including one just in front of the green.Amenities include a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse, restaurant, lounge, locker room, full-service practice area, and a recreation complex with three lighted tennis courts, a pool, and cabana.
