Description: A barn full of folk art helps take the chill out of a cold winter’s day, especially if the barn is snuggled amid the green hills of Fearrington Village, a dairy farm turned exclusive retirement community and fashionable inn and restaurant. Some of the Southeast’s favorite folk artists are included in the invitation-only show, and all participants are outsider artists, meaning none has received classical artistic training. Offerings can include bold, colorful paintings of barnyard creatures, animal sculptures crafted from machine parts, pottery jugs shaped to resemble faces, decorative cars, and the work of local celebrity and outsider artist Clyde Jones. His medium is cedar logs, which he carves to resemble alligators, pigs, porcupines, and other familiar fauna using a chainsaw. Admission is $5.
