Description: WakeMed Raleigh is the flagship hospital of the non-profit WakeMed health care system. Located in southeast Raleigh, WakeMed has 870 beds and almost 1,000 physicians on staff. Its services include cardiac care, critical care, and children’s care. It has a freestanding emergency department dedicated solely to children that serves more than 40,000 patients annually. Other services for children at WakeMed include intensive care units for infants and children, children’s diabetes and asthma programs, and pediatrics specialists in surgery, neurology, endocrinology, orthopaedics, neonatology, and child development. WakeMed also offers a stroke center, an intensive care unit for neuro patients, a trauma center, and physical rehabilitation care program. WakeMed operates nine satellite campuses in Wake and Johnston counties that provide emergency care, radiology, speech therapy, rehabilitation, and laboratory testing.
