Description: The Center of Science and Industry (COSI to locals) isn’t where you may have last visited it. In 1999 the entire museum relocated onto a 17-acre site on the riverfront. The new facility boasts three times the area of the museum’s floor space in its former downtown digs, spanning the length of nearly four football fields. Exhibits in this $125 million structure include six “learning worlds” (Adventure, Ocean, Life, Gadgets, Progress, Space), which feature anything from a street scene circa 1962 with live actors to an Indiana Jones–style adventure in the Valley of the Unknown. Themed restaurants include the Atomicafe and the Gadget Cafe, where you’re encouraged to disassemble a radio or toaster while you wait for your meal. Theaters include the Extreme Screen Theater, Dome Theater, Motion Simulator, and Simulation Zone. The center is open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, with theaters, restaurants, and gift shop remaining open until 9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Admission is $18.50, $16.50 for individuals 55 and older, and $13.50 for kids ages 2 through 12.
