Description: This inn sits a few blocks north of Main Street. The buttery-yellow, 4,000-square-foot inn was designed and built to have the feel of an old house. It comes pretty close to the mark. The inn is owned by bed-and-breakfast pros Phyllis and Ron Murray and their son William. The creature comforts of the guest rooms are unsurpassed in Oklahoma. Each of the 10 antiques-filled rooms in the main house has a private bath, most have gas fireplaces, and all are stocked with coffee makersand gourmet coffee, candles, scented soaps, magazines, and piles of pillows. Three 1,000-square-foot cottages across the street are as charming and comfortable as the inn, with whirlpool baths and tiny kitchens. Hidden Hollow is a whole house unto itself—the restored bungalow has a full kitchen and a yard and is perfect for families. The inn is named for one of Phyllis Murray’s ancestors, a Chickasaw cattle rancher named Montford Johnson. Johnson’s license to operate in Indian Territory is framed and hanging on the wall; a kachina doll collection and University of Oklahoma football memorabilia fill other rooms. (Actress Helen Hunt stayed in the hunting-and-fishing-themed Trophy Room while she was in Oklahoma filming the movie Twister.) The Murrays cater to business as well as leisure travelers and provide guests with a photocopying machine, fax, modem hookups, and workouts at a nearby gym.
