Description: The minor league team, reborn the Charleston RiverDogs in 1994, is a Class A South Atlantic League farm team for the New York Yankees. The RiverDogs’ season runs Apr through Aug. Locals turn out regularly and appreciate exciting baseball while enjoying the antics of Charlie the RiverDog, the giant costumed mascot who plays to the stands and brings out the kid in everyone. After 57 years at College Park, Charleston baseball moved to a new ballpark. Home, as of 1997, is the 5,900-seat Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park on the banks of the Ashley River. This downtown location is next to Brittlebank Park, Stoney Field, and Lockwood Drive. General admission seats are $5 with a range of prices up to $12 for box seats. Watch for special, reduced-admission games and promotions such as fireworks displays after Friday night games and prize giveaways throughout spring and summer. Plenty of parking is available adjacent to the ballpark for $4.
