Description: Reservations are required for this walking tour that claims to show visitors the Holy City “from a Charlestonian’s point of view.” In addition to architecture and history, this intimate, 90-minute-plus tour profiles some of the city’s legendary personalities and recounts the impact of wars and disasters. Tours leave from in front of the circular fountain at Waterfront Park (at the foot of Vendue Range) at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Rates are $18 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger. The same company, called Tour Charleston, offers the Ghosts of Charleston tour, which is based on the book The Ghosts of Charleston by Julian T. Buxton, III. This 70- to 90-minute adventure is a big hit with those interested in the paranormal and departs from the fountain at Waterfront Park at 5, 7:30, and 9:30 p.m. The same pricing applies. The company’s newest offering is the Ghosts of Charleston II, wherein you encounter specters on the edge of town. This tour begins at 7 and 9 p.m. leaving from the fountain at the corner of King and Calhoun Streets at Marion Square.
