Description: Surrounded by manicured gardens, flower beds, and scented magnolia trees, Alexandra’s Inn was built in 1880 as an overflow for guests of the Winyah Inn (now the Masonic Lodge). The main house was dramatically restored. Special detail was given to enhancing the gracious home’s original pine floors, moldings, 11-foot ceilings, and fireplaces that come with every room.Because the home resembles Tara from Gone with the Wind, each bedroom is named after a character in the famous story and decorated with that person in mind. Here you’ll find Scarlett’s, Bonnie’s, Ashley’s, Melanie’s, and Rhett’s rooms. Each room has cable TV and telephone, as well as a private bath with shower, tub, or Jacuzzi. The main-house rooms are designed for two people only; young children cannot be obliged.Standing poolside, the carriage house is a private accommodation with two bedrooms, a large bath, living room, dining room, and full kitchen. Decorated in light, breezy colors, it is a favorite for families or the business traveler looking for longer stays. A gourmet breakfast is served every day for guests staying in the main house. The front porch hosts a full army of rockers. Innkeepers Rob and Sandy welcome small weddings or other special events. They can even coordinate and cater functions for you.
