Description: The name is Southern and so are the surroundings at Juleps, which has the look of the fine old homes of Charleston. The food is continental, says owner/host Sam Cochran, but prepared with Southern ingredients by his chef and wife, Melissa. This combination produces entrees such as Kentucky bourbon rib eye steak, roasted stuffed quail, jumbo shrimp stuffed with lump crabmeat, sautéed trout N’awlins with shrimp and crawfish, and Dixie cornmeal flounder. Among the appetizers are coconut pecan shrimp, which comes with a spicy citrus dipping sauce; and corn, crab, and sweet potato fritters. Specialty drinks can be ordered from the bar, including—what else?—mint juleps.This restaurant in the Gallery of Shops near the Sea Pines traffic circle serves dinner seven days a week. Reservations are recommended, and the owners request that diners wear shirts with collars.
