Description: This 20-acre park of waterslides and rides is the Strand’s largest water park, with more than 30 rides and attractions. It is anchored by a 10-story Turbo Twisters, three completely enclosed dark tubes that send you spiraling through darkness at 50 feet per second! Myrtle Waves is staffed by certified lifeguards. The just-for-kids Tad-pool, only 18 inches deep, includes a Little Dipper Slide and the Magic Mushroom water fountain. The lazy river is a leisure soak-and-float pool. Then there are a host of waterslides: Snake Mountain, Arooba Tooba, and Super Chute. Of course, there is a flume ride; in fact, Myrtle Waves has two body flumes. Myrtle Waves even has a wave pool; Ocean In Motion uses wave-making machines to create an effect that many amusement parks in other parts of the country use as their central attraction. Finally, there’s Saturation Station with a 256-foot Racin’ River that swirls riders around at nearly 10 mph and the Bubble Bay leisure pool with bubbler jets.Food concessions and a picnic area are available. Footwear, such as aqua booties or sandals, is suggested but not required. Prices vary by day according to planned activities, but a season pass can be purchased for $79.The park is open weekends from April through May and throughout Sept, and daily from late May through Aug. Operating hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with extended hours until 6 p.m. during peak season.
