Description: Since 1921, Scottish Rite has been a leader among hospitals treating kids with orthopedic and other troubles, regardless of a family’s ability to pay for care. Founded by a group of Texas Masons who wanted children with polio to receive care, Scottish Rite has become an outstanding provider of medical attention for kids with scoliosis, clubfoot, hand disorders, hip disorders, and limb length differences, along with certain neurological disorders and learning disorders, including dyslexia. More than 190,000 children have been treated here and more than 40,000 clinic visits are made annually by children. The hospital takes a multidisciplinary approach to care, tailoring treatment to the individual needs of each child and family.
The hospital literally wrote the book on children’s orthopedic care: the Tachdjian’s Pediatric Orthopaedics: From Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, now in its fourth edition, is a textbook considered the standard reference guide for orthopedic surgeons around the world.
