Address: 2716 Montana Ave.

Description: Started in 1956 by Eddie and Alice Davis, this little family restaurant is just that. The simple dining room is exactly what you expect a family Italian-American restaurant to look like: a smattering of square tables with red and white checked tablecloths and a few simple paintings on the unremarkable walls. Stepping into Cappetto’s dining area, you know the focus here is on the food. The menu consists of all your childhood favorites: pastas, house specials, pizza, and stromboli, as well as a few unique additions, such as the spinach frittata—an Italian omelet—and the Mediterranean hamburger steak—a ground sirloin patty seasoned with Mediterranean spices and cooked in a pizza oven. The old standards also make an appearance—veal Parmesan, chicken cacciatore, baked ziti, and lasagna, and Cappetto’s gives you the option of ordering family style by taking your pick of five pastas and sauces to feed everyone.Approaching Cappetto’s original location on Montana Avenue, you can instantly see the 1950s influence in the unique awning that extends from the front door and the vintage neon sign above. And while their newer location on the Eastside, 2285 Trawood Ave. (915-591-8907), lacks some of the charm from the outside, the food is still gloriously the same. Lunch and dinner are served here daily and they offer free wireless Internet access to customers.
