Description: You might not expect El Paso to have a true blue New York style pizza joint, but that’s just what Hello Pizza is. Owned and operated by an actual New Yorker, the pies here resemble the heaping cheesy monuments that you would find along any of Manhattan’s back streets. The ambiance at Hello Pizza comes from the fact that there is no ambiance. A tiny unit in a strip mall along Country Club Road on the far Westside, inside you’ll find little more than a few unadorned tables, a walk-up counter, and a classic overhead menu that boasts “Coke” in pure 1980s vintage.The pies here are truly delicious. The owner makes sure to source his ingredients directly from New York, so the cheese, dough, and sauce all reflect the type of taste that you would find in the Big Apple. A deli as well, Hello Pizza boasts a large number of meat items, and as you walk in, your senses are almost overwhelmed by the delicious smell of baking pizza. Hello Pizza does not have a full Italian menu, but enough dishes are available to qualify it as a “sit down” restaurant, though the atmosphere is always informal and orders are taken at the counter. In addition to pizza, calzones are the specialty of the house. There is a small outdoor patio that is popular in summer and makes for a great spot to enjoy a heaping slice and a cold soda.
