Description: International Bakery and Deli is a no-nonsense place to get amazing, homemade sandwiches and baked goods. The sandwiches and baked goods here were previously served at the Lo Mart Delicatessen, which is now closed. The head pastry and sandwich chef at Lo Mart opened this International Bakery in a nearby location and the rest is history. International Bakery does not carry a large selection of imported packaged goods, but they do specialize in European foods and at the deli counter you can order a number of high quality food items from various parts of the world. Meats and cheeses are available, with Boar’s Head being one of the featured brands.Those that are fans of the deli style restaurant know that one of its draws is the fact that food can either be consumed on premises or taken home. Thus, no waiters are employed in this extremely casual atmosphere where offerings are served in basic baskets, and customers do not have to leave a tip. The staple menu item here is a selection of sandwiches, such as tuna salad, which are available from the counter and come hot or cold on a variety of breads. The sourdough bread here is particularly nice.Most of the sandwiches come with a side of tasty housemade potato salad that is mustard based. Another wonderful option is the Wiener Plate, which can be served as either a sandwich or a lunch plate, and is a traditional German style lean wiener. The baked goods here are also a main attraction, with such a large variety of cakes and cookies available that you would have to come back every day for a month to sample them all! All in all, the International Deli and Bakery would make an excellent stop for a quick lunch or afternoon snack, or to pick up a selection of hard-to-find international meats and cheeses to take home.
