Description: This unique bed-and-breakfast, located four blocks from the Historic Area, does everything but play “Hail to the Chief” for visitors. Innkeepers Deborah and John Keane have remodeled a three-story, 105-year-old Colonial in presidential style. There are five suites, one of which has two bedrooms, all with private baths. Each is named for a former president and decorated in a style befitting his taste. The Roosevelt Suite, for instance, celebrates Teddy’s love of train travel with a queen-size railroad–like berth. Guests awake to made-to-order breakfasts, served on fine china in the Reagan Dining Room or at a table for two in the JFK Library, where they can peruse the extensive collection of historical and political books. Afternoon sweets, wines, ports, and sherry are served in the Diplomatic Reception Room. Partisan politics extends even to the parking lot where spaces bear “Democrats only” and “Republicans only” designations. There is free wireless Internet access, and the inn offers its one-and-a-half acre lawn for weddings. Special elopement and vow renewal packages are also available.
