Description: Set on a bucolic 32-acre estate four miles from downtown Williamsburg, this house was built in 1968 for hosts Shirley and Bill Lee under the guidance of a Colonial Williamsburg architect. Crickets, frogs, owls, and Angus cattle are the closest neighbors, and it is easy, upon awakening, to imagine yourself having traveled 200 years back to a peaceful setting in the colonial period. Among War Hill’s attractions is a reproduction colonial cottage, the Washington Cottage. It offers a canopy bed for a comfortable rest, a private bath, and a whirlpool tub for your relaxation and enjoyment. The Jefferson Cottage also features a fireplace, whirlpool bath, and kitchenette. Four other rooms in the main house all have private baths, antique furnishings, and TVs. Inquire whether the accommodation you are considering has queen-size, double, or single beds, as all are offered. Children are welcome here. Smoking is not allowed in the house.
