APPEARED TO BE BLACK AND LARGE, POSSIBLE VULTURE. DURING LIFT OFF THEY HEARD A PRETTY GOOD BANG ON RT SIDE AFTER SPOTTING SOME BIRDS DURING THE ROLL AND THEY LEVELED OFF AT 3,000 FT. ABOUT 10 MINUTES AFTER DEPTR THEY CREW REPTD THEY LOST THE #1 ENG AND RETD TO ARPT. PREC LDG AND DAMAGE TO ENGINE WERE NOT DUE TO BIRDSTRIKE ACCORDING TO ENG MANU.
