Crystal Cave

The Crystal Cave is located in Sequoia National Park in California and lies between the Giant Forest and the Ash Mountain entrance. The cave was discovered by park employees in 1918 and has been open to the public for over 70 years. To reach the cave, visitors must hike a half mile on foot. Buses and large vehicles are not permitted on the road leading to the Crystal Cave. The cave allows guests an opportunity to explore underground in one of the country's best loved parks. You will see rock formations, a subterranean stream and stalactites and stalagmites throughout your cave journey. The tours are guided by a knowledgeable tour guide who leads visitors from room to room in the cave. The guide points out many of the formations and features along the 45 minute journey. Guests traverse the cave on paved pathways that are lighted. Tours run from the begining of May through the end of October. Tours are reasonably priced and discount admission is offered for children, seniors and cave members. Guests are also invited to enjoy a candlelight tour of the cave. Each person in the group is given a lantern to carry as they move through the cave, entertained by stories of restoration and discovery.
