Hollywood Murals-You Are the Star

Driving around Hollywood will expose you to a number of sights affiliated with the golden age of Hollywood and the collection of murals fits this category. The purpose of the murals is to immortalize the stars who have made up the rich history of the city. Located at the southeastern corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Wilcox Avenue is the You Are The Star Mural. It was painted by Tom Suriya and features a colorful rendition of people sitting in a movie theatre, watching you. This audience is special because it features famous faces like Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, and Clark Gable. It is as if these famous folks are watching you on the big screen instead of the reverse. It should also be noted that Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers are dancing up the aisle in this imaginary theatre, enjoying a performance of their own. The mural is located four blocks west of Vine and six blocks east of Highland. Other murals around Hollywood include The Hollywood High Mural, The Delores Del Rio Mural, multiple Legends of Hollywood Murals, The Spirits of the West Mural, as well as murals of Edward James Olmos, Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Miles David, Tito Puente, and Anthony Quinn.
