Zuma Beach

Zuma Beach is located in Malibu, California and is one of the area's most popular beaches. The beach is known for its excellent surf and its size and is often ranked among the healthiest beaches in Los Angeles County. Life guard service at the beach is provided by the Los Angeles County Fire Department. There are a number of surfing events hosted at the beach each year, as well as some kitesurfing opportunities on the northern end of the beach. The beach has direct access from the Pacific Coast Highway and offers a lot of parking for visitors. Zuma has a strong rip current and has not been without accident and tragedy, including the paralyzing accident of lifeguard Jesse Billauer. In addition to some of the best surfing in the state, the beach offers swimming, fishing, windsurfing, bodysurfing, diving and bodyboarding. The beach features a few sand volleyball courts, restrooms, foodstands open seasonally and a wheelchair accessible walkway. There are more than 2,000 parking spaces, which means visitors have to walk very little to reach the beach from their car. Zuma has been a part of many Hollywood productions including Baywatch, Planet of the Ape's and the 1978 television movie Zuma Beach.
