Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Weighing In On A New Home Scale

Posted 10-31-2016 at 05:06 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

My instincts and my (big) gut told me that I needed to do it. That would be a visit to Bed, Bath & Beyond.

Let's face it: I can't get enough of that place, what with all the browsing that I do from time to time, looking at product after product. It had become time to get a brand-new scale for my home use. For this particular one, an analog just wouldn't do anymore. Technology has changed so much, and so I felt I needed to change with it. Heck, ...

Getting The Loopy Scoopy On Texas Roads

Posted 10-30-2016 at 09:18 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Two new developments are taking place with infrastructure in West Texas and in the Panhandle. Things are going to get real fun now and more practical for Texas mobility.

Okay, I'll preface with this: I know that construction and traffic delays are an inconvenience to a lot of people and a pain in the tookus. If y'all can just be patient for a while, then the completion of these projects will be worth it all. In Lubbock, first of all, they've got a name for the...

Can Anything EVER Go Right For The Houston Texans?

Posted 10-25-2016 at 03:47 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

A few months back, it looked like a good deal. In fact, it even looked like a steal the way Brock Osweiler played as a Denver Bronco last season.

Guess who's laughing now?

Not the Houston Texans. Not after the way Monday night's debacle went. I felt the Texans had momentum after that thrilling last-minute home comeback against the Indianapolis Colts that they could make it a game against Denver and possibly even beat the Broncos, whose current...

Two Hours In Line Are Worth The Wait.....For Something All Too Important

Posted 10-24-2016 at 06:15 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

It's our moral obligation. It's our civic duty. It's one of the things that make being an American great. It is something Americans cannot waste or throw away when the opportunity presents itself.

Hopefully, four years from right now, we will still, as Americans, have that right and not have it taken away from us.

Two hours was the length of time I stood in line at a local library to make the most important vote in the most important election of not...

More From Austin: Gotta Have A Round Rock Donut

Posted 10-22-2016 at 10:15 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

I've been meaning to write this in here, but I just haven't had the time. My previous post had me sharing a little of last week's road trip to Austin. The funny thing is, I took to the road having had just a couple hours of sleep, but I'd already had it planned no matter what my work schedule had going.

Anyway, great time by me. Weather cooperated great. And..........I needed some Round Rock Donuts. Look, The Casester could not help himself. Too much...
