Crickets, Fabric, and a Good Night's Sleep

Posted 08-23-2009 at 03:49 AM by LookinForMayberry

There's a cricket sounding outside the window behind our computer, he's been going at it all night. I would think he'd be exhausted by now, but I am glad for his "song." Around midnight, there was a veritable cacophony of them, thrumming throughout the campground. Now, it's only him -- a vibrant voice from the darkness.

Yesterday, while my DH went shooting at the pistol range for his birthday present to himself, I stayed home to cut two more skirts down to tank tops. (Clothes...

Sloth -- Another Deadly Sin

Posted 08-22-2009 at 07:30 AM by LookinForMayberry

On the 15th, I posted to this blog on the topic of "It Just Doesn't Matter." I was wrong. I seem to find I am wrong about so many things, it shouldn't bother me. Quite possibly, it's God's way of teaching me humility:

"See, Deb, you were wrong about this, too."

This morning I listened to Rev. Adam Hamilton's podcast (given June 7th), on the sin of Sloth. I'd started to roll over that one to another selection -- like Envy. After all, I'm neat...

Observations from my Mirror friend

Posted 08-21-2009 at 05:05 AM by LookinForMayberry

Today I got a chance to look in my mirror, and like Snow White's step mother, it spoke. The points it made were not pretty, but worth scrutiny. I don't agree with them all, but there is enough truth given that I do take them to heart, and promise to at least try to wake up.

My mirror's reflection ("you" changed to "I" or "me" for my own use, to be certain I am applying these to me and not another):
  • Stop looking outside myself and take a good look

Heading Back to PA

Posted 08-21-2009 at 04:38 AM by LookinForMayberry

New York is such a huge state, and such diversity! I wish the weather had been better for us, so that we could've enjoyed it more, but we enjoyed it still.

Within the hour, we head back to PA, to stay in Lewistown, and visit State College. That city WAS on my list of potential Mayberry towns initially, but as I've learned more about myself on this trip, I think it may be too large.

Every day I learn more about what I like and dislike. As a problem-solver by nature, I tend...

Another Deadly Sin? What's with the Guilt!?

Posted 08-20-2009 at 03:39 AM by LookinForMayberry

Yesterday, we'd PLANNED to go to Niagara Falls before it got too hot and crowded, so we could be home mid-day. My DH decided to go fishing before we went, and well -- we got there at 11:30. It was packed with people, it was FULL SUN, and it was HOT. I totally LOST it, and went into FULL VENT. I was totally lost in my anger, cut off from my DH, the beauty of the morning (despite the discomfort), and most importantly, from all sense of my in-dwelling God.

Then, I immediately recognized...
