Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.
Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!
Regards,

Another Blast From The Past, Still Open....Elsewhere

If I were to make a list of places that I want to see make a comeback after having left the picture, I just thought of one that should. Even more bizarre than that, this restaurant still stands with just one location, no longer part of any chain.
Well, it always helps if I find something online.
The place I'm referring to is York Steak House, which used to have a location in Arlington, Texas, many years ago. Man, I used to enjoy that place. I especially would order a burger there, nestled very comfortably on a buttered bakery roll, and put York's incredible steak sauce, and sided with steak fries. That "burger" might have been the chopped steak that I would place on said roll, since it comes with the meal. I think I do remember also ordering a steak there, too, and getting a baked potato. York also did everything cafeteria-style, what with getting your side items, dessert, and drink, plus a trip to the salad bar, all the while getting a number while waiting for your meat to come out.
Earlier, I looked at the internet and found one location, in, of all places, Columbus, Ohio! Yep, and it's even got a website, too, with a lot of the same menu items I remember vividly while eating in Arlington as a younger lad. Now, with the one location in Ohio still left, I.............
.............would have to drive a thousand miles to fulfill a memory. I so wish that York Steak House would come back to Texas.

Yeah, I know. It's not going to happen. But those steaks, burgers, potatoes, and rolls, along with the savory steak sauce, were all worth going there for.
