Since moderators are deleting whole topics (ok, it's their right), I don't want to lose some posts on which I spent some time. So, here goes
Neither love nor hate for Melania here. I don't know her, but have met the type more than once. It's not region specific, of course, there are melanias all over the world.
Her job: anything really, model, being seen with rich/famous man/men, pretending to be a journalist or anything else that's convenient (for instance, our girl is a businesswoman now)
Her vocation: being beautiful
Her mission: marry rich
Her vision: lifestyle of luxury
Now being beautiful Melania style is work (and I'm not kidding here). Of all melanias I know neither one is a party animal. Each one exercises dilligently and eats like a sparrow.
Looking pretty and working hard to keep that basically sums up Melania's faculties. If there's anything else, it's not relevant for the job of the First Lady.
Trump worshippers like to brag about her 5 languages as if they themselves graduated linguistics with Melania on Sorbonne or somewhere, but let me call bs here.
Our girl has probably got Italian, French and German at elementary or at best - lower intermediate level. Which means she can have some rudimentary conversation on her age, origin, work, order meal, make appointments for shooting and that's it. (Now if that's called speaking a language, then let me tell you – I look almost exactly like Sela Ward. And there's some ocean property in Phoenix, AZ I'd like to sell.)
Back to our polyglotte du jour
This leaves native Slovenian, neighbouring Croato-Serbian – Slovenians of her generation grew up with it in ex-YU - plus English which I believe she speaks at (upper) intermediate level (I forgive her the accent). That's it – five foreign languages + Slovenian. She's obviously not talented in languages, otherwise she would have spoken English much better after two decades in US. I don't hold it against her, I'm just stating the obvious.
She isn't stupid, but she isn't nearly as intelligent as people who surround her. I'm speaking in IQ terms, and she's probably what's described as upper average. She's not intellectual. (Neither is Donald but I believe he has high IQ).
This was never a problem until now, when the eyes of the nation are turned towards her and she's under scrutiny, while surrounded by people who are all 1 to 2 standard deviations brighter than her. That is what's probably eating her – a job that's pretty much over her head. I wouldn't be happy in her shoes either. (Btw heels are too high
One inch lower and legs look better. But hey, fashion is silly)
Like I said neither love nor hate here. But I can't pity her either – we all have to live with our choices.
