Welcome To Case's Column
Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken.
Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.
In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Hard To Believe That Fuddruckers Is Now Gone

This is one of those "popular one minute, disappear the next" situations. And I remember when the place I'm fixin' to tell you about was very popular with all kinds of people.
While it wasn't my primary go-to burger place, Fuddruckers had been a very popular pit stop for many a burger lover. You ordered your sandwich at a counter and then head over to the condiment bar for whichever fixings you wanted. Luby's had owned the chain for the past few years, but because of COVID-19, they've decided to abruptly shut down Fuddruckers. Every location in my part of the world is now gone. All of them.
What will I miss about Fuddruckers?? Well, it isn't exactly the burgers. I'll remember them for a magnificent salmon sandwich that they had. I mean, they knew how to put together great salmon, and I'd throw some tartar, some lettuce, and some tomato on that freshly-made bun. Coupled with their big steak fries, that was some good eating.
This just shows you what a negative impact a pandemic of what we've just encountered can do to eateries that had popularity just a short time ago. Now, they've departed from us.

What I find more puzzling is why Fuddruckers dropped their BBQ beans from their menu some five or six years ago. I don't remember what the lady at the counter told me.
