My son turned 20 on Saturday!

Posted 07-14-2008 at 03:27 PM by SandyCo

Of course, you realize that this means I'm no longer the parent of a teenager. It also means that I can no longer pretend (not that I was, but you get the idea!) that I'm not middle-aged, that my crow's feet aren't deepening, that my hair isn't showing more more gray, and that life is endless.

I love my son dearly, but the boy (sorry, young man!) is now sporting a respectable looking mustache and beard! How can this be possible? When did he turn into a man?

Life could be better, but it could also be a lot worse. I'm grateful to have my health, and that my kids are both healthy (my daughter is 23). I don't even wish my children were younger. It's just strange and different to be the mother of two adults. (I'm sorry, but even though the legal age of adulthood is 18, I don't buy it.)

And me? I turn 45 in October. Wow. Stop this time machine, please! It seems to be stuck on fast forward!

Deep breaths, Sandy..Pretty soon you will be a gramma, and all the gray hairs and crows feet won't matter..All that will matter is the special gift God gives us to love and spoil in our aging years..My oldest grandchild is 25 years old (8 more under him and looking forward to a great grandson in November)

I know what you're talking about Sandy, I'm watching 3 grow up before my eyes and I all I want do is tell them to stop growing for just 5 minutes. Two are taller than I, and all I keep asking myself is.... when did this happen?

I am so with you on this. I still remember playing with him as a baby. Now, he is away in college! and about pretending those "crows feet" aren't there I think there is always Botox! I have another one at home He is 13. I think they are tougher to raise when we get a little older Do you?
