Republicans win, then cave to Democrats

Posted 12-11-2014 at 10:37 PM by dechatelet

Congress has been passing continuing resolutions instead of normal budgets for the last few years.

CRs just continue previous spending without any substantive changes. Passing a CR prevents a government shutdown if there is no budget and the government has run out of money. CRs can be for short or long periods.

With the government about to run out of money this week, Republicans had an opportunity to pass a short-term CR during the lame duck session to fund the government until February, by which time they would completely control Congress and be in a position to to pass appropriation bills defunding Obamacare and programs that spent money on Obama's executive order deferring deportations for millions of illegal immigrants.

Those are two of the major issues that Republicans had promised to address, and by making that promise they successfully defeated Democrats in the last election.

But now, the Republican House leader (Speaker Boehner) has allied himself with Obama and key senate Democrats to pass a trillion dollar budget (weighing in at about 1800 pages) that funds the government for an entire year and provides money both for Obamacare and money for illegal immigrants.

This is Washington Kabuki Theater at its finest.

Minnesota Republican Michelle Bachman pointed out the irony that Boehner would never have supported this new budget before the recent election. If he had, the Republicans would not have won control of Congress. Republican voters would simply have stayed home.

Bachmann then noted that the Republican "Establishment" (meaning East Coast, Wall Street, Chamber of Commerce type Republicans) have always wanted full amnesty for illegal immigrants and open borders for future illegal immigrants because they want the cheap labor so that they can keep American wages and salaries low and American workers in their place. As for Obamacare, it's not their concern. Obamacare only hurts middle class Americans -- ho hum, who cares?

It's amusing to listen to Democrats and even a lot of Republicans like House Speaker Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell bash the conservative Tea Party -- which does care about ordinary American workers and the middle class -- as elitist and racist. When you combine a biased mainstream liberal media that demonizes all Republicans (especially the Tea Party) with an Establishment Republican Party that only cares about big business, you can understand why the middle class in this country is disappearing -- squeezed between the dependency class at the bottom supported by Democrats, and the proverbial top 1%.

Bottom line: America is becoming just another Third World country divided by a tiny percentage of the very rich and a huge percentage of the very poor. In the meantime, American voters are diverted by the "bread and circuses" of racial, gender and class division (fomented by Democrats) and mired in appalling ignorance of history and politics. They will pay in the end as most of them retire without pensions and as their children face more hatred and division in this country.

I'm very disappointed in the so-called "Establishment". RINOs are killing every opportunity to save this country, and you have to wonder what they're really thinking about. I've always said that conservatives need to all act in one accord or we will never accomplish the objective of defeating the Socialist takeover in D.C. That's not happening right now.

Boehner has just plain got to go. He's a disgrace.
