Now that your unpacked and got to test drive the area for a bit, encountered some locals and yokels, and hopefully some actual people that moved to the area from your home town or state its time to list the likes you have of your new or semi-new, or heck if the area is your native home than by all means and ways list what you like! Y'all got it? Well here goes!

Weather! You like or not!
Year round flowers!
Long springs!
Longer Autumns!
Shorts year round! For the hearty ones that is.
Variety of sub divisions to chose from!
Snow is a neat event versus a ho-hum not again event!
No rust on older cars! Amazing if your from the Northeast!
Can fish year round without cutting holes in the water (ice) for us North Easterners!
Pretty country side is usually only 5 minutes or less from where you live anywhere in the triangle.
People R People. No matter what they say!
Day trip to Mountains!
Day trip to Ocean!
And in a lot cases no trip at all to the many lakes, ponds, river, and streams that spot the area!
Good food can be had by all and more is always welcome irregardless if they are called viddles or pickins!
Out away from the city lights the sky at night explodes with the many stars that fill the emptiness of space with the occasional flying star to catch a dream or two on!
Groceries can be cheaper but we all have to eat!

Sure it takes time to get use to this place, remember the place you came from was called home and that is never a easy place to replace! But give it time, explore the area and get involved and this place too will be your new home not only in name but in feeling!

May the triangle, RDU, RTP, Crossroads, the Quay, Wake Forest, Knightdale, Apex, Raleigh, Durham, Zebulon, Oxford, Mossisville, Franklinton, Youngsville, Chapel Hill, Henderson, ...seems like I am forgetting somewhere....????......Oh yea! and Cary, be with you!

Oh Tarheels! I forgot to number the above as I did say I would count thy ways!

Wake Forest, NC. located in Wake County NC. Some call it Wake's Forest of the Triangle....Ok maybe that's just me. But if you come from the North East, Wake Forest seems to fit. It has some rolling hills and many farming areas.

It has a small town feel but close to Raleigh, you could be down town Raleigh, depending on time of day in about 15 to 30 minutes. You can be at the Virginia border in less than an hour.

It has old Historical homes and some new subdivisions. It certainly worth a look see if your looking and seeing the area. It has transplants from New Jersey, New York, and many other NE State and Mid West and California and....well you get the idea people from all over this great country now calls Wake Forest home!

C'mon down, over, left, or right and check it out you may just like what you see.

Lived in Wake Forest for a year or so. Lived in a Luxury Apartment Complex, apparently they now rent to people from the hood, with 5 people living in an apartment for 2 people. My new neighbors liked to stand out front and "Talk Aggressively" to white people that they had as neighbors. Fun times. I lived in Atlanta for 2 years, never had a single problem with neighbors and I lived in a "Dicey" area.

On the job hunt front, I found out RDU is not for over 35 White Men. Get out if you are a white man over 35. That's what I learned living there.

March 24, 2020. Its a cloudy cool day in the Triangle. Cloudy and cool describes more then the weather these days. This is one of those once in a life time events and we will get through it. Tomorrow is the day after today and as they says its the first day of the rest of our lives. I always thought that was a great saying and sure helps bring things into perspective.

Speaking of Perspective. The yearly FLU kills far more then we are seeing with COVA-19 and far more people are infected by the FLU that most of us all get shots for so we can avoid the FLU. But we don't shut down the world for the FLU. It comes and goes each year, some years are far worse then others. But this COVA-19 has the world slowing down to almost stopping. It is amazing to watch play out. I can't think of a single event in my life like this. Obviously 911 which stopped the world for about a week and then it took off again. JFK getting assassinated and the world stopped the day of and at his funeral. But nothing like this, nothing....

So for me and my family we will listen to our government at all levels. Practice Social Distancing. Wash our hands as many times as a surgeon. Not buy more toilet paper then we need in a week or two. Look to help anyone as best we can and wait for this to, to pass. Hopefully it will be soon in our rear-view mirrors of life so we can get on to all the activities spring and summer bring with it.

So Be Safe, Be Wise, Be Confident, and Be Toilet paper rich!

Wednesday March 25, 2020 and had a nice rainfall last night that knocked down the tree pollen. Trees are really popping their leaves. Spring is in the air! City of Durham just issued a stay at home order. Still trying to figure out what that means. Our employees are certainly confused. Do they come to work? So they stay home? Will they be fired if they don't come. These are trying times for all.

While I think my way through this order I will go back to a happier time. A time when there was real penny candy! When groceries stores where persons Sir Names and if 10 people were in the store at one time one could not move. Where the owners always lived on premise. Where generations of families ran the stores. Where the first thing you want in and saw was the Penny Candy behind the glass..... Oh the choices where mind boggling. We would have a penny or two to spend, sometimes an entire Nickel.....The licorice, cherry, black, chocolate, the Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum, The Cin-Cin's, the Mary Jane's, the Red Penny Candy, and the list went on and on.

How can we possibly make a decision, we had pennies to spend. Our future depended on the right choice! The person behind the counter would get agitated on our over thinking the choices to the point they would say, 'Pick already I don't have all day.' ....oh those were the days.

So we would finally make our choices head outside put the candy in our pockets and hope on our bikes and head somewhere where we could enjoy it! That my friends played out many times a week. Those were the days that a penny people today throw to the curb made a young kid rich and happy for a day!!!!

Happy Wednesday, Stay Safe, Stay in the moment, don't think to far in advance. Remember the days of the penny candy and always SMILE.

April 30, 2020 and its raining steadily as I can hear the raindrops falling onto the roof above. Its a nice rain to knock down the pollen and replenish the ground with one of the key ingredients of life. Sun being the other but that will come out later on.

Speaking of later on. COVID-19. So much news this past months on this topic. To much to comprehend and to much falsely reported. I am so thankful I am from an era that questions before accepting. I feel sorry for our younger generation that accepts things as told...that makes for a scary place. Things are rarely as they seem. That is both on the good side and bad side. There is always a balance and a balance of information is what I look for. When I see numbers that the US has this Chinese FLU 5x more then the next nearest country Spain I ask myself, WHY? When I see that we tested for it more then any other country in world by far and our infected rate is and has been around 1 in 5. In other words 1 out of every 5 tested, test positive while 4 in 5 test negative, I ask myself, WHY? I see the aged among us are the most likely to catch this dreaded Virus or those with reduced immune systems, so this is an intelligent Virus, and I ask myself, WHY? I see data from the CDC and other bodies of knowledge be so very wrong, and I ask myself, WHY? I see poor countries and countries with poor Healthcare systems have fewer cases then wealthy countries with good healthcare systems, and I ask myself, WHY?

When I see that China's COVID-19 cases dropped mightily once the rest of the world caught their FLU, I ask WHY? When there was a run on toilet paper when this is not a GI system illness I ask myself, WHY? When I see Meat plants closing left and right when other essential business remain open, I ask myself, WHY? When I see WM and Target open to sell Groceries and every other thing in the store like sporting goods, clothes, shoes, TV's, ect. , and yet I see clothing and shoe stores closed up due to COVID-19, I ask myself, WHY? When I see public parking lots at parks closed up so no one can park in them yet I see cars parked all around them so people can use the parks and trails and risk parking by busy roads, I asked my self, WHY? When out and about and I see people no longer want to make eye contact or speak to you anymore, I ask my self, WHY? When I can't go to Church on Sunday or any day for that matter, I ask myself, WHY?

WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? Maybe it is a 3 letter word that begins with 'W' but its ends in 'O'.....its Who? Who is behind this? God? Man? Bat? Snake? My believe and life long faith in the one above finds God not to be the one. God loves us as his creation. I find the animal world as a suspect but no evidence of guilt. I am left with man. But what man? Chinese man? American man? Italian man?

Every generation has a generational event. Wars, Natural Disasters, Depression, Famine, Disease, and recover from it. Never can I find a time when the World Closed down......we will recover from this and there are many lessons to be learned here. Faith, Hope, and Charity are three basic ones that were true in the beginning of time and are true today and will be true tomorrow. One or better yet all should be exhibited today to let the healing begin........

Oh I would be remiss if I left out the new term from this Emergency and that is Social Distancing. But my fear is Social Distancing leads to only being Socially Distant form each other.......please don't let that ever happen. We need each other and the one above. I pray for all to stay Healthy, Happy, and Humorous in the world we now find ourselves in. Happy Thursday!

I can only leave you with Mr. Armstrong.....crank it up and listen!

June 8, 2020 and its a cloudy 82 degrees outside heading on up to 84 degrees.. Nice June day. My previous post was deep into the COVID-19 Pandemic. What a difference a few weeks have made. It is great seeing people out again. Many, many, many more without mask and much closer then 6 feet apart. So I guess the people called the end to isolation and social distancing.

Unfortunately looting and vandalism lead the way to protest but it has quieted down and now good old fashion protest are going on. Thank you founding fathers for giving us that right! Thank you for giving us a Constitution that you and your generation lived with and the 18th, 19th, and now 20th century can live with. WOW!!! Some Monarchies don't got that long when they have total control of the people before they crash!

I am thankful for the peaceful demonstrators that put the Social Distancing to its ultimate fate. We are a Social people, we need interactions with one another, good and bad, pleasant and unpleasant. We need to come together and communicate, next to each other with no artificial 6 foot boundary between us. No mask to hide the invisible foe we face!

We the people want to be free from mask and distancing. We want to be respected and trusted by all we encounter. We want to know that a hand shake or high five is what defines honor and respect between us. We want to know that when someone of authority to keep the peace and laws in tact they too live and act within those laws and authorities that are granted to them. No one is above the law. No one is bowed down to as in a Monarchy in our Democracy.

We the people are not perfect. We are not without fault nor errors. When we fail we need to be called out in that failure and serve an appropriate penalty. We make mistakes and forgiveness is divine. We protest for those that can't. We stand up for the ones that can't. These are the traits that make us American!

Over the years our system of Government got better for it not worse. Its ugly sometimes but sometimes ugliness brings change for the good. We need to continue to respect one another as Human beings. As derivatives of Adam and Eve! When you look at it like that we all share the same parents, it just took us a longer time to get here then our ancestors.

SO COVID-19 be gone! Protesters be peaceful! And remember the one above knows the plans and sets the rules. Happy Monday!

November 2, 2020 and its a brisk sunny Monday. Started the day at 36 degrees and heading up to the mid to upper 50's. I looked back at my last post on June 8, 2020. So much has changed since then and so much has not.

We are still masking it up everyday. We are less dependent on hand sanitizer then we were in June. We learned a lot more about COVID-19 and how it impacts our daily lives.

Most of the learning was made by ourselves and not found in published data which was inaccurate and full of bias.

We are all not dead now. That's good. We all learned to live with COVID-19 being among us. We learned that it can and does affect everyone and most everyone by now has had someone they know and/or love affected by it. We learned to live with it and not fear the worst. We learned the younger you are and the healthier you are the better you will overcome it. But I recently read a person over 100 years young over came COVID-19.

We learned that one way signs in our stores do not stop it. We learned that we can buy groceries and shop in small, medium, and large store and not get it. We learned to wash our hands a few more times a day will not hurt us. We learned that keeping small business locked up hurts all those that don't have COVID-19. We learned that the Big Box Stores did tremendously well with their business results during the lock downs. They benefited from our fear as humans to trust their handling of their stores at the expense of the small businesses who had to close by government mandates.....

We learned that the government cannot buy its way out of COVID-19. We learned little from countries that handled it better then countries that did not. Not sure why that is........I guess its the presses coverage of the dire and not the successes.

We have not learned the full impact of COVID-19 on the general population that so far did not get COVID-19 but put a mask on everyday for 8 to 10 hours......not much of a appetite for that study I guess.

We learned that it was important to tell us all the ones that got COVID-19 and died every hour of everyday. Then we learned that as death rates dropped to move to tell everyone everyday how many new cases of COVID-19 there were and what the total number of COVID-19 cases there were since it started in March. What bearing does this data have other then to propagate fear and irrational thoughts. We hear little to no data on how many people recovered from COVID-19. Exponentially more then died from it.

What we have not learned is why it seems to spike at times that are not conducive to Virus growth patterns. In many ways this COVID-19 seems to spike as if it has a switch that can turn it on and off. Amazing!

We learned that we will have a vaccine soon, how soon, don't know that, just know soon.

In the end what we learn will most likely be what we already knew. We are human beings that are susceptible to microscopic particles that make us sick. Even if we keep ourselves germ free and in stirle environments we still will get sick. Even if we wear mask 17 waking hours per day we will get sick. Even if we order in and have everything delivered to our doorstep we will get sick. There is no stopping it, there is no magic wand to say we will never be sick of COVID-19 or FLU or Common Cold or just a sore head!

But if we are smart and keep our human nature in tact as caring loving, human contact, human interaction, and human presence in balance we too can get beyond COVID-19 and more importantly thorough 2020!

Happy Monday, Happy rest of your life, and Happy to the one above who will ultimately decide what is next for each of us.

December 28, 2020 and it was a sunny pleasant day for late December. A keeper in my weather book of books! Well Christmas is in the rear view mirror the year that was COVID Pandemic is roaring right along. I surely thought we were 'turning the corner' or at least wanted to believe that. I just never knew and still don't know how big the radius is of this curve we are turning.

Came to the conclusion no one knows. Every one has opinions even the scientist give us scientific opinions. Some make it to the main stream media and others are banned to the dark side of the internet. Just amazing......I learned that experts are not always truthful in their opinions.

But I had encountered COVID. I certainly was not looking for it. I wore masked, washed my hands until they wrinkled. Put on hand sanitizer by the gallon. I drew the line with bathing in it. I had not the money nor the stomach to try that! Took vitamins and minerals. Maybe could of got some more sunshine in but I didn't. I work in a industry that was deemed essential but I think it was more essential for the companies bottom line then the products we produced. I had relatives that had it up in the Northeast early on and fortunately they all fully recovered. One was touch and go but made it through.

Praise God for sure. At the end of the day he is who we answer to and we are under his control.

But COVID came rearing it ugly head and looked me right on the eyeball. Well maybe in my nostril or through my skin or somehow it found me and got me.

It was with chills and aches and pains. For a few days. Doctor said take Tylenol and if it gets worse to go to the Hospital. Fortunately it never got worse. Around Day 5 I ran a temperature of about 101 for about 4 hours. Hard to say exactly being I was taking Tylenol the entire time which suppresses temperature. But the 101 was my body saying, Hey I know what this is and I am going to beat the crap out of this illness and it did! After my fever my ache went away. I did develop a cough but never was stuffed up. I attribute the cough to the constant mask 10 houts per day. I never lost taste or smell. I attribute that up to my Italian blood and loving Pasta to much to lose taste of it. Oh my, never!

I could feel it in my chest but it never congested so my body did what it is built to do and that was to fight off illnesses. It took it a few days to figure it out and it did and it kicked COVID's butt! The whole ordeal took about 2 weeks and it was gone as it came. Vanished!

I never feared it as 98.99999% recover. I knew my odds were good. I did not listen to the doom and gloom media who in someways seems to want to propagate this pandemic.

I wish they would cover more people that survived it and how the illness affected them and how they beat it. Instead of showing us Hospitals filled with patients who have no names or no faces. Don't show me that. They are people who need help and love. Give me hope through recovered people not flash of a person in the Hospital with medical staff all around them that look like they are going into a Nuclear Reactor then a Hospital room.

I give my praise and glory to the God in Heaven for my cure and the millions of others that have been cured. I pray everyday for all those affected with COVID for strength to fight it and positive attitudes to kick its Butt right back where it came from!!!!!! Amen to God forever and ever.

That's my COVID story and I am healthy after it!

April 19, 2021 and its a bit cloudy and beginning drizzle. But I do see some very small patches of blue up there so sun can't be to far away! Just been so busy lately and havve not had a chance to put my thoughts down. Been busier then a termite in a tree farm or something like that.

Anyway woods products aside for now. Recently I hear so much that our world has changes since COVID. But I take great solace in reminding myself of the things that had no changed so here we go.

    1. The God we grew up with is still the one and only true God.
    2. Family is still family.
    3. Families change due to birth, death, and Uncle Rico.
    4. We are all a day older and wiser each and every day.
    5. Our earth turns as it did when Christ and those before him walked on the earth.
    6. Bubble gun still loses its taste in a shorter time then we would like.
    7. Price Albert finally came out of his can as I don't see him in stores anymore.
    8. I still refer to women as Miss, Mrs., and Mame.
    9. I still refer to men as Mr. or Sir.
    10. I still use the terms of Pal, friend, and Buddy alternately.

Happy Monday! Happy to be alive! Happy that so many more people love one another then our media tells us about. Happy just plain Happy! So if you do one thing today make sure you smile till your face hurts! So very happy Jesus loves us unconditionally and endlessly and without prejudice. Those are traits people learned on earth....bummer!

Wednesday April 21, 2021. 21 is the number for today. Oh to be 21 again. Its a sunny 70 degrees outside heading up to a high of 73 degrees. Weather wise that pretty perfect as 21 was back in the day!

These days back when I was growing up in the hills of N.E. Pa meant jackets in the morning walking to school and wrapping them around our waist running home from school. These were the days we would be looking outside daydreaming what we will be doing when school got out......or at least until our teacher caught us doing that! Dreams quickly turned to nightmares! Oh my.

Our grade school and high school were on hills and near one another so our daily trudge up hill would always end in down hill races home. There were hills and steps, crossing guards, and fun! These were the days when seeming time stood still. Our days were so easy. o alarm clocks other then Mom. Dress sometimes brush our teeth. Breakfast was on the table. Radio was playing on the counter with some AM channel on. News, weather, and occasional song. Finish eating out of the house, up the block or two to my cousin's house wait for him. Then off to school. Meet up with other in the neighborhood heading to school. No one at our grade school came on the bus. There were no car pool lines. There was a bunch of kids all walking to school. No backpacks. No water bottles. No cell phone. No game stations. Just fun talking sports and any other topic that would come up.

Grew up in a mixed race and cultural neighborhood. We all just got along we were all neighbors, we were classmates, we were friends. We were taught at home and in school to help anyone in need and we did. If we seen someone being bullied we stepped in. Didn't turn our backs and look the other way. The one being bullied could of been and sometimes was us.

I ask myself what happened? When did we change? Why do we care so much about outside appearance and not looking past that to the inner person? We are all created in the image of God our father. Our God has boundless love. Thank God he does not judge us on what we look like but does judge us on what's inside us.

    Happy Wednesday.....indeed!

Wednesday November 2, 2022. It's been a while since last post. Lost my sign on PW and finally remembered it! So much has changed in the world since my last post.

It was like shutting the car door and the instant it shut your mind flash an alert that your car keys were int he locked car. Well modern technology solved that with the FOB! No more locking the keys in the car or trucks!

But it reminds me of a time when I was with my dad as a kid growing up. We are fishing on a private lake we belonged to. We had camped there for the weekend, and we broke camp and loaded the car with our camping gear in the backseat and the trunk. Got all done and dad shut the truck. We for into the car and dad reached into his pocket and no keys! Well after several words I will not write here it was now what? My dad was a real resourceful guy. If he wants the original McGuyver he was one of the early pioneers. At this point he was pretty sure her locked them in a jacket in the trunk. He also knew that if he could get the back seat out, we would have access to the truck.

We had no tools. So, we emptied the backseat of its contents and dad looked for a way to remove the backseat. My job was to go find some stick to use a lever if we had to pry it out. Even if we were able the seat out, we still were not sure where the jacket was in the trunk. The truck had our big Coleman chest cooler, a metal table, Colemen lanterns and stove. Things not easily movable around a fixed space like the trunk.

Also, these was the day's long before cell phones and the closest house was a couple of miles away of a dirt road. Dad figured out way to pop the back seat back off the clamps it was on with the sticks i found. So, we were at least seeing things in the truck but no coat. Dad tried to move things but no real luck. No flashlight either so seeing was a challenge as well. Here is where my role came in. I was small and thin and could get my head and shoulders into the trunk space behind the backseat and reach around with my arms. I reached round the fixed objects in the dark and tried to feel anything that felt like a coat or material. I felt our backpacks, a box with our cooking supplies and paper towels and things I could not recognize. I tried several approaches to different sides of the truck but not much luck until I pulled on a piece of material that turned out to be dad's coat! But it was really wedged in-between the fixed items.

Once I was done pulling dad got on and pulled on the sleeve. It was moving and actually was ripping. So, dad got another grip and one big tug, and the jacket came out! Amen!

We put back the backseat loaded up the car and drove home. Needless to say, that was me and my dad's secret!

Happy Wednesday and glad I remembered my sign on and the story of the lost keys.
