A few people on the Triangle, NC Forum have pointed out that there are several "bogus" pictures of Durham, NC posted on the Citi-Data Profile for the city which can be found at the following link:

Durham, North Carolina (NC) Detailed Profile - relocation, real estate, travel, jobs, hospitals, schools, crime, news, sex offenders

One of the pictures shows an old dilapidated and abandoned house with the caption:
"A Typical Durham Home".

Durham, NC : a typical Durham Home photo

Another shows a muddy field filled with seagulls with the caption:
"Durham's downtown renewal effort began 15 years ago at Brightleaf Square, once the tobacco-packaging and -trading hub of the city"

Brightleaf Square is a beautiful renovated urban center of downtown Durham. Not a seagull infested bog.

Durham, NC : Durham's downtown renewal effort began 15 years ago at Brightleaf Square, once the tobacco-packaging and -trading hub of the city. photo

And how about these?

Durham, NC : Durham Public Health building photo
Durham, NC : Redondo Beach, CA photo

Looks like somebody is using the city data site to make fun of Durham. These pictures are purposely misleading. Several forum members from the Triangle forum have indicated that they have contacted the moderator or administrator about this but have not received a response.

I guess I am wondering why this has not been corrected? What gives?

Default oh dear...

oh my......
You are so right NRG, looks like someone was having a lil too much fun . As those photos are not accurate
nor are they even close .

I remember some of these photos have been used before in Durham threads. Perhaps someone just swiped them
off of those posts and uploaded them.

I have a pretty good idea of why they are there, but last time I suggested it I got my post deleted and an infraction warning.

Well however they got there is none of my business. I was just more surprised to see them. And I guess thinking
out loud...or is it typing out loud? .

It has been brought to the Admin and mods attention and they will look over it when they are able.

I've noticed wrong pictures in other C-D reference pages as well. I'm assuming that we are to bring it to the attention to the Administrator? If not could somebody inform us where to report such mistakes?

I've not only seen pictures of a totally different city in a group of photos pertaining to that city but also mislabeled captions for photos even though they may correspond to the correct city.

Forum moderators do not have any access to change or edit these pages.

Yes these are the ones I mentioned in an earlier thread (a couple of them) as well. I don't know how they got there but they really need to go. If I had seen those pictures prior to relocating I may not have moved here, and I have yet to see any houses as dilapidated as the ones on that page. They are really quite misleading.

I sent a Direct Message to the Administrator on October 4th about these photos. According to this system's software, that message has not even been read yet.

I have notified him of this problem as well. I'm sure he will take care of this when he has time.
