So how does this festival affect Gulf Shores - traffic, restaurant waits, crowds, etc.? Do they leave the beaches with a lot of trash or is it well organized and clean?

I usually travel this time of year and trying to find out if I should avoid going on whenever they have this festival next year?

.
It affects all of those! And yes to all of your questions in your second sentence!

Since the Fest was this weekend, finishing up today, you should have no problems at all with any of this.

Update: Ah, I just noticed you were asking about your trip for next year - if you don't intend to join in the festivities, I would NOT visit when it is going on as everything IS crowded and the traffic IS horrific, in addition to most all of the rentals being at a premium.

Before or after, no problem, but during, avoid!
.
Enjoy your trip to the Gulf!
