If given a choice for relocation, would you select Nome or Barrow and why?
The populations are about the same. I am also concerned about the number of open positions at the hospital in Nome. I've never seen so many openings at one time (and I realize they are opening a new hospital soon; however, that doesn't mean you automatically need that many more staffers). Does anyone have any input on the Barrow vs Nome healthcare systems?

thanks in advance
why are you choosing Alaska?? have you checked out everything about living conditions or just the job???
Love Alaska and everything outdoors that the more remote parts (away from ANC/FAI) have to offer. I am aware housing costs are very high and have factored that into the equation.
Excellent job opportunities in both Nome and Barrow for current line of work.
Need feedback about living in Barrow vs Nome? Pros and cons? Or just your general impressions of both would be most helpful

Is Nome a lot more international? The population from elsewhere.
And Barrow more Eskimo/native focused (which is appealing as I know many Eskimo's are down to earth).
It is just that since the populations are roughly the same I want to understand the other differences better.
I am needing some feedback from anyone who knows these about these areas.
Barrow is very cosmopolitan. People from all over the world live or visit but there is a large pacific islander community as well as a ton of Koreans. The restaurants and taxi companies are pretty much all owned and operated by Koreans, Pepe's being the exception.
That said, the cultural "dominance" if you will, is Inupiat. Whaling is a very big deal, twice a year. Barrow is a very interesting and different place to live/work.
I've lived in both places and I'd pick Nome over Barrow in a heartbeat. Nome has many, many more recreational opportunities then Barrow. Nome is just a lot better place to live.
stiff. You said that Nome is just a much better place to live or something to that effect
Can you elaborate? Why is it a much better place to live? I really would love to hear your feedback in greater detail as you seem to know what you are talking about.
