Nome is a wondrous land of miracle waterfalls, and golden rushes .... or gold rushes, or whatever that was. Good old Billy Bob - is that really you? Remember me, Woof, from Alabamar?

Seriously though, I think Nome did have a gold rush at one time. And there's no reason it couldn't have miracle waterfalls, if you believe in magic!

I think part of the problem with NYC folk, is that "Nome Alaska" has a ring of finality to it .... that short mumbling monosyllable, eerily like the phrase "no home" ..... it makes practically everyone outside the state think "Nome, Alaska is the end of the earth." Both antipodes in one location.

I myself have used the city as a sort of filler when a website demands my billing address and I don't want to provide it, but I'm often foiled in this pathetic attempt at misdirection, when my random pick of a zip code proves not to match the reality.

Nome. The city of golden fines, soft mukluks, and decaying walruses. How I miss thee.

I went to highschool in Nome, it is as nice a little town as any, but is very cold in the winter, very cold, people play basketball, they drinks, adn they watch cable. Its isolated from teh world, some people dream of making it out of nome but never do, nobody dreams about making it into nomw but never does----there is a little grave yard of those that died there---its strange to think that I might have to bury my dad there, but he moved there and has never left, lots of people end up leaving Nome but there is always new people moving in.
