Hi all,

I wanted to thank everyone for the help with planning our journey North. We arrived safe and sound late evening on 10/03. What an epic drive on the ALCAN! We had perfect weather once we cleared Missouri all the way until we were outside of Palmer. It was a gorgeous journey and one that I am glad we had the time to make. I hope everyone gets to drive that highway at least once in their lives

We drove a little over 500 miles a day, took some time out of our schedule to go to Mt. Rushmore and to stop and take in some sights along the way. What a beautiful drive! Many of the lakes and vistas were just breathtaking, definite eye candy!!

For future trekkers, this was our itinerary: From TN, we stayed the night in Columbia, MO, Sioux Falls, SD, Gillette, WY, Great Falls, MT. Once in Canada, we stayed in Stony Plains, Fort St. John, Watson Lake, and then Beaver Creek. Once in Alaska, we drove straight through to Soldotna. Snow in the higher elevations near the Matanuska Glacier, but the roads were fine.

I hope that I can return the favor and help someone in the future the way that you all have helped me. Again, many thanks!

Grats and welcome! My one big regret on the drive from Cali to Ak, that i plan on fixing on day, was that we rushed the drive and didnt take the time to enjoy the sites! With the cost of fuel for 2 vehicles and an expensive moving van it was a lotta stress. Beautiful yes, so one day i will do that drive in a more relaxing manner!
Welcome again!

Once you drive it, you'll want to drive it more! I'm up to 17 crossings now.

We need pictures!

Ill be making the drive from Virginia to Anchorage next year. We will probably need help on our drive plan. We are also wanting to make it to Rushmore on the way up and other places of interest on the way.
