Two weeks away from our move to Homer!

Has anybody transported alcohol through Canada? I am trying to figure out the best way to pack it. We wrote the CBSA and this is part of what they said in reference to our wine:

Quote:
Consumable goods that are not intended for use in Canada should be packed in containers that can be sealed by border services officers (BSOs) upon your arrival in Canada. BSOs use metal seals that resemble tie/cable wraps. The lid and container used should have a hole in which the seal can be inserted and tightened.
I am not sure what kind of container that means. Does anyone have any ideas?

True. But this is wine we have collected over the years and is special to us. We are giving the liquor away at our "Pack the Truck" party since we never drink it.

Why not ship it up? Save you the hassle of transporting it and worrying about it breaking on the drive up.

I think to rule is that you can take two (2) bottles, doesn't matter what it is, wine, booze, or beer, but that's all, two.
At least that's what I remember.

Not sure girl, but I am thinking like a metal ammo case where you can put a padlock on, which would work with their ties? I haven't seen this before so just a guess. I would maybe call them and be sure, then check out a military supply store down there...hubby has some bigger ones that would hold a "few" bottles Good luck and let us know what you find out!

Canadian Border Patrol says that we can take more if we are transporting it through and do not consume it in Canada. If we were going to be drinking it along the way, then we could only take two. They will seal it at the border and maybe make us pay a deposit that we will get back when we prove we didn't drink it at the other end.

That is a good idea Granny! Thanks! I think I am going to have to call them to be sure.
