Nor do I know any towns outside of Alaska that exist without road access except maybe a few isolated islands.

To be specific, I got that statement from an older thread here on C-D that's about 6 months old.

It states that the city of Anchorage and its borough together eventually formed a municipality altogether. Eagle River and Chugiak are sometimes referred to as suburbs even though they are neighborhoods in the municipality.

Does Anchorage have suburbs and why is it so big? (Land-wise)

One of the posters on that thread even said just that.

I'm being personally attacked and it's making me uncomfortable. I'm not 100% responsible for misinformation if even other posters who live there make a mistake or two once in a blue moon.

Are your feelings hurt? No one is attacking you. Your attitude? Possibly. Here's the deal. You really know nothing about Alaska except what you read online. That's it. You believe that cities can be built here and that they should be. You believe that Alaska could be a sprawling urban center. It can't. Come up. I'll even let you sleep in our spare bedroom. All I'll ask is that you buy groceries for a week. Bring a business plan or development plan. I'll let you present it to the city council. Heck I plan on building a house soon. You can come help me look for a piece of land that has good water and is build able. I'll even let you tag along as I set a subsistence net.

I'm joking about the groceries. Not sure if you could afford it.

But I'm for real. If you'd like to see the reality of bush Alaska (though I'm in a fairly large hub) my offer stands. Then you can give advise about a place that you really have no understanding of. I did some research before I moved here. It didn't prepare me for reality. Not at all.

When I was in HS, at least two of my teachers had friends or family that lived in Alaska (one of them had half her family there). I asked them about it sometimes, and what it's like to live there. That's also another source I used.

There are also people I talk to about this other than on C-D, just saying.
